Wetsuits or Baselayers

What kayakers wear is often a personal choice dependent on many things,  ability, length of session or trip, conditions and so on.

Full wetsuits are popular fo assured warmth, great if you are starting out and expect the odd swim.

As you progress another option is to use a good wicking base layer using a technical fabric. You can choose how many layers you need and combined with a decent cag you can still protect yourself against the elements.  The lower half can still be a problem with the relative lack of movement  but that is where the neoprene shorts or trousers work very well to keep you warm. This popular combination also has the benefit of improved upper mobility whilst paddling.
